Thanks for this. It certainly is intentional. Sexual violence, and the victimization of women in general, is ubiquitous in media. It’s exhausting. The show has made it a point not to define our female characters by their gender and personally, I think it’s led to more interesting stories. It’s a sad commentary on the overall portrayal of women that our show is distinctive because of it, but hopefully someday that will change.

I don't know if this was intentional by The 100 writing team, but I'd really like to thank y'all for creating a show which so far has not relied on sexual violence as a plot/character development point. For a show filled with strong women, it's really refreshing & reassuring that the show doesn't rely on some kind of sexual trauma in order to make their characters compelling/complex/empathetic, etc.
