"I first met Emily on the third episode.. She was supposed to be in one episode! And it was my first…..."
“I first met Emily on the third episode.. She was supposed to be in one episode! And it was my first… Actually, it was my first opportunity as the lead in a series to try to make a guest star comfortable. It’s actually my first real scene where I have lots of dialogues with somebody that wasn’t a core part of our cast. When I did ‘Private Practice’, Amy Brenneman who I had all my scenes with, she went out of her way to make sure before we shot our first scene I was incredibly comfortable. We chatted about our family, about our partners…And by the time it came to shoot our scene which was a very intimate scene I couldn’t have been more at ease. So I remember thinking “Here’s my opportunity with Emily, to really try and make her feel at home, and happy and comfortable.” And when we shot that scene, she did first… We shot my coverage first, and when she said my name or did her little things for the first time and I laughed? That was legitimate. Like, I was not expecting it and it just made me crack up, so it’s… Right from the start we’ve always just had a nice, easy time doing scenes together.”

Addendum to Yo, Marvel. Here’s your Carol Danvers concept film
Title: Warbird (because I know you’re afraid of anything having the word Marvel in the title, and Binary doesn’t sound as badass)
Synopsis: US Air Force Colonel Carol Danvers (Anna Torv, Fringe) is about to hit forty, and ready to retire. Accompanied by War Machine James Rhodes (Don Cheadle, as seen in Iron Man 2 & 3), and suffering from a hangover, Danvers heads to the Nevada desert to investigate the crash landing of an unidentified aircraft. The last thing Danvers is in the mood for, is a run-in with smart mouthed SHIELD agent Jessica Drew (Lauren Cohan, The Walking Dead).
The second to last thing, is an alien spacecraft that seems to be phasing in and out of existence.
Characters:
- CAROL MOTHERFUCKING DANVERS. Needs no introduction.
- James Rhodes. You need a character to springboard off? Airforce bros 4 lyfe yo.
- Jessica Drew. SHIELD presence? Everyone’s favourite comics BrOTP? Secret SWORD agent who actually has crazy spider-powers? Done.
- Abigail Brand. Alien badass extraordinare.
- Yon-Rogg. Undercover crash-landed Kree soldier who landed on earth aeons ago. Some serious Area 51 shit, okay? Was sent to earth to find the Tesseract, but got stuck, and is steadily losing grip with reality.
- Karla Sofen. Psychotic air force psychiatrist and profiler who joins forces with Yon-Rogg for some crazy reason or other.
- Monica Rambeau. Coast Guard buddy of Carol and Rhodey. So badass she doesn’t need powers (yet)
- Kit Renner and Kamala Khan. Kids who live in Carol’s apartment building. HUUUUGE fans of the badass airforce pilot lady.
BUT THERE’S NO MAR-VELL, I HEAR YOU SCREAM.
Who needs Mar-Vell? Give Carol an origin story that isn’t tied to a dude. Bring together current MCU characters (Rhodey, maybe even Hill or Agent 13), with new characters based loosely on the comics. Use characters from various periods in Carol’s life.
Make this movie. MAKE IT.
Goddamnit, I’ll even write it for you. For free. Do it already.
Things that aren’t hard: A Carol Danvers film. Do it, Marvel. Do it now.
I would watch the everloving FUCK out of this.

Sara's letter to 2014
Dear 2014-
You have been a big year already. So many moments have happened in our short time together that feel like they are shaping my world both professionally and personally in really profound ways, so I wanted to write you a letter about how I feel about you. And since you are a year, you probably won’t write back. I think that’s pretty cool.
Starting the year together with the Grammy experience is one of the cooler things I’ve ever done with any year. Remember when we met my hero, Carole King? Me too. Remember when she changed my life by just simply being herself? Me too. That was awesome.
We’ve made some hard decisions together already as well that are about growth and surrender, and you have helped me commit to being someone who looks to the future while feeling so very grateful for the past. Thank you for that.
I feel optimistic about you. I’m inspired by the promises of walking with my head up into new and uncharted territory, and I appreciate that you don’t mind when I quote my own song titles to you in a letter. I feel like we will get to see much more of my fans together this year as I look into the summer months and consider all the touring opportunities that will bring me back to places I’ve not been in a long time. We have spoken about Europe, Australia, South America, and my friends in Asia as well… in addition to our dear friends here in North America. I feel like you and I are going to sing a lot. Mostly me doing the singing. You have pitch issues.
We are writing and finishing this book about my life, and feverishly trying to finish the “Waitress” musical. We are getting ready to launch some big plans for supporting “I Choose You” and the rest of songs on The Blessed Unrest. We are taking long walks through New York City, even when it’s cold, and discovering all the ways the winter settles into this place…recoiling and contracting in all the ways that makes it the perfect launch pad for the blooming of almost anything.
You have been a good friend to me already, 2014, and I just wanted to write to you and tell you that I’m glad you’re here.
*turns to face the audience*
And I’m glad YOU’RE here. Thanks for every little bit of encouragement and support and just general being-ness. I have big plans for this year, and I can’t wait to share more as the year unfolds. Me and 2014 are really happy to have you.
*winks, turns her head, and skips off the stage into a crowded but tiny clown car waiting in the wings that beeps and then drives off on a rainbow.*
Love,
Sara
